My Ground Chicken Burgers Are So Good!

Chicken burgers are my go-to when Iโm craving a burger but want to keep things a little lighter. I keep mine juicy and flavorful with just a little mayo in the ground chicken mixture and add minced onions, parsley, and garlic. I find these chicken burgers to be just as good without the heaviness.

Ground Chicken Burger Ingredients

- Ground Chicken:ย Lean and light ground chicken breast is available at most grocery stores. If you canโt find it, you can always make your own by pulsing chicken breasts in a food processor (thatโs actually how I make my grilled chicken burger recipe if you want exact instructions on how to do this). If you donโt have ground chicken on hand or prefer turkey, you can easily make the switch.
- Italian Breadcrumbs: These help hold the patties together and keep them from drying out. You can also substitute with plain breadcrumbs and 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, or panko for a crispier texture.
- Mayonnaise: This is the secret to keeping these chicken burgers super juicy. If you arenโt a fan of mayo, you can still use Greek yogurt in your chicken burger to keep it moist.
- Minced Onions & Garlic: If youโre in a hurry, you can sub 1 teaspoon of onion powder and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, but itโs less juicy that way. The fresh ingredients add moisture, too.
- Fresh Parsley: I love something fresh and herby to cut through the richness of the chicken and mayo. You can also use basil or cilantro but parsley is more mellow.
- Paprika, salt, and pepper: Feel free to swap with other seasoning.
Toppings to Try
- Classic Chicken Burger: Stick with the basics: lettuce, sliced tomato, red onion, and a swipe of mayo or mustard. Sometimes, Iโll toast the bun for a little extra texture.
- Mediterranean-Inspired: Top with crumbled feta, sliced cucumber, and a tzatziki. Add a handful of arugula.
- BBQ Ranch: Add a slice of cheddar or pepper jack, a drizzle of BBQ sauce, and a spoonful of ranch. I usually throw on some pickled onions, too, if I have them.
- Avocado & Jalapeรฑo: Top with mashed avocado or a few slices, pickled jalapeรฑos, and a squeeze of lime. Itโs got a little heat and a lot of flavor.
- Caprese Style: Fresh mozzarella, tomato slices, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. A few fresh basil leaves make it feel super fresh.
- Buffalo Chicken Style: Toss the cooked patty in a little buffalo sauce, then top with blue cheese crumbles or ranch dressing and some thinly sliced celery for crunch.

Recipe Tips
- Press down in the middle of each patty with your thumb. This will help the burgers to cook evenly through and avoid shrinking.
- Use your hands to mix the the patties. Itโs a little messier but the ingredients will combine much easier this way. You can wear tight fitting plastic cloves to keep your hands clean.
- Donโt over mix the chicken burger mixture. Everything should be just combined. If you over mix, the burgers can become tough and chewy.
- Once on the grill, donโt flatten the burger with a spatula. When you do this the meat will lose some of its juices. Just flip them, donโt be tempted to press them down.

- 1 pound ground chicken
- ยฝ cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons minced onions
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley
- 1 garlic clove minced
- ยฝ teaspoon paprika
- ยฝ teaspoon salt
- ยผ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon avocado oil for cooking
- Hamburger buns for serving
- Lettuce tomato and red onions, for serving
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, add ground chicken, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, onions, parsley, garlic, paprika, salt and pepper. Use your hands to combine all the ingredients together until well combined, but donโt over mix.
- Form into 4 patties, about ยพ inch thick. Press down in the middle of each patty with your thumb to ensure the patties donโt puff up in the middle.
- Preheat a large non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Add the oil to coat the bottom of the pan to prevent sticking.
- Once the pan is hot, add the chicken burgers. Cook for about 5-6 minutes on the first side, until the bottom is golden brown. Then, flip and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes on the other side.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature of the burgers reaches 165ยฐF. If they need more time, reduce the heat slightly and continue cooking until fully done.
- Serve with your favorite toppings.
Notes
Cook the chicken burgers on the preheated grill until the internal temperature is 165ยฐF, about 10 minutes total, flipping halfway through.
Assemble the chicken burgers with hamburger buns and toppings of choice.

I have not rated this recipe yet since I havenโt made it, but based on the reviews, sounds delicious. My question is whether you can bake them in the oven and if so, at what temperature and for what length of time? Also, can you barbeque them?
Yes! You can bake or barbecue these ground chicken burgers. To bake: Place the patties on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 400ยฐF for 18 to 22 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden on the outside and the internal temperature reaches 165ยฐF. For a little more color, you can broil them for the last 1 to 2 minutes, but watch closely so they donโt dry out. To grill: make sure the grill grates are well-oiled. Preheat the grill to medium heat, about 375ยฐF to 400ยฐF, then grill the patties for 5 to 6 minutes per side. Donโt press down on them so they stay juicy.
